Theme:
"stay classy, grand valley"
The theme for this year's Dress for Success was "Stay Classy, Grand Valley". This quote was adapted famously from the movie "Anchorman". Even though this movie is full of comedy, we weren't really into that aspect of the quote. We really wanted to get across that this is a classy event promoting professional businesswear, while making it fun with a fashion show and many different free opportunities. By choosing this quote, we were able to get the recognition of the quote but also get the classiness of the event into the theme. For the theme of the event, we chose to have all black linen for all vendor tables, prize tables, food and beverage tables, and registration tables. There were about eight cocktail tables that were covered in white linen. On top of the cocktail tables we alternated centerpieces with lanterns and flowers in vases. Uplighting surrounded the room which gave it a warm fashion show feel. The doorway was decorated with branches that had lights strung in between them.
